No referral needed. Our team will help you figure out the right next step
How Our Autism Assessments Work.
Step 1: Parent Interview
We talk to you first about your child's development, communication, social interactions, and what prompted your concerns. This gives us the full picture before we meet your child.
Step 2: Child Assessment Sessions
Your child completes a series of structured and play-based activities, including the ADOS-2 - the gold-standard tool for autism assessment - adapted to their age and comfort level.
Step 3: Autism Diagnosis & Report
You receive a detailed report with a clear diagnosis, your child's strengths and support needs, and specific recommendations for home, school, and any further services.
Step 4: Feedback & Next Steps
Your psychologist walks you through the results, answers your questions, and outlines a practical plan - whether that's therapy, school support, NDIS access, or all three.
Does My Child Have Autism?
Every child is different, and autism presents in many ways. Parents often come to us when they notice patterns like:
  • Difficulty making or keeping friendships
  • Preferring to play alone or struggling in group settings
  • Intense focus on specific interests or topics
  • Sensitivity to sounds, textures, lights, or crowds
  • Meltdowns that seem triggered by sensory or routine changes
  • Difficulty understanding social cues or body language
  • Repetitive movements or routines they get upset about changing
  • Delayed or unusual speech and language development
If any of this sounds familiar, a child autism assessment can give you clarity. Our kids autism assessments are designed to be thorough but comfortable - whether the answer is autism, something else, or nothing to worry about.

Your Questions, Answered.

How do I get my child tested for autism?

You can book a child autism assessment directly with us - no referral is needed. If you'd like Medicare rebates, ask your GP for a Mental Health Treatment Plan first. Then call us on 1300 151 110 or fill out the form below and we'll schedule your child's first session.

How old does my child need to be for an autism assessment?

We assess children from age 5 upwards. While autism symptoms can appear earlier, a reliable assessment typically requires your child to be in a structured school environment where attention and behaviour demands are clearer.

What if the assessment shows it's not autism?

That's a valuable outcome too. If autism is ruled out, the assessment often identifies what is going on - whether that's anxiety, a learning difficulty, giftedness, or something else. Either way, you'll have clarity and a path forward.

Will you provide a report for the school?

Yes. Your comprehensive report includes specific school-based recommendations that you can share with your child's teacher or learning support team. Many parents find this is one of the most valuable parts of the assessment.

What happens after the diagnosis?

That depends on your child's needs. Some families move into ongoing therapy to build coping strategies and executive functioning skills. Others use the report to access school accommodations or NDIS support. Your psychologist will help you decide what makes sense.
