Kirsten has extensive experience working as a Clinical Psychologist, with both children and adults acrossprivate, government and community sectors. Government work included tertiary health services for children and adults for anxiety and trauma; research clinics, child protection, children inout of home care, and justice. Private work included individual work withadults and also working with children in the television and acting industry.
Kirsten has a friendly, inclusiveand non-judgemental approach and she likes to create a space for clients wherethey can feel at ease while untangling the issues they arrive with.
Kirsten has a special interest intrauma and anxiety in both children and adults. With children, she sees it has important to work closely andcollaboratively with parents as she sees this as central to improved well-beingof their children.
She is also committed toproviding supports for late diagnosed adults with ADHD.
Kirsten provides a person centredand strengths-based approach, using such therapeutic modalities as
- Eye Movement, Desensitisation & Reprocessing(EMDR),
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),
- Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT),
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT),
- Trauma Focussed CBT (TF-CBT), and
- Person centred psychodynamic approaches.
Most important of all, Kirsten wants her clients to have theexperience of being “met”; of being seen and heard and to feel respected whilethey navigate development of fresh skills and new ways of thinking andunderstanding themselves.
