Find your way back to each other.

For couples stuck in the same argument, drifting into silence, or rebuilding after trust was broken. You still love each other — but lately it feels like hard work, or like you're living as housemates. Our couples therapists help you understand the pattern you're caught in, and give you practical, proven ways to reconnect.

✓ Keep your own psychologist
✓ Medicare rebates may apply
“Will I have to share?”
Only if you want to. This is a class, not a circle. You set your own pace.
The big misconception

A class, not a circle.

When people hear “group”, they picture a circle of chairs and forced sharing. That's not what this is. A skills class works like any great class: an expert teaches, you learn, you practise.

What people picture

Sitting in a circle sharing your story
Being put on the spot in front of strangers
  Unstructured talk sessions
  Only for people in crisis

What it actually is

A psychologist teaching a practical skill each week
✓ You choose what you share, or share nothing at all
A structured curriculum with take-home materials
For anyone whose emotions run hot, fast, or heavy
Is this you?

When emotions feel bigger than the moment.

If a few of these feel familiar, the skills taught in this program were designed for exactly this. No diagnosis required, just the sense that your emotions are running the show.

You have the same argument over and over, and never really resolve it
You feel more like housemates or co-parents than partners
One or both of you has stopped opening up
Trust has been broken, and you are not sure how to rebuild it
A big change — a baby, a move, illness, work — has knocked you off balance
You still love each other, but it has started to feel like hard work
How it works

Four steps, zero pressure.

1

Register your interest

A quick form or phone call. No commitment, just a conversation.

2

A brief chat with us

We make sure the group fits what you need right now. If it doesn't, we'll point you to what does.

3

Weekly sessions

One skill per week, taught by a psychologist, with simple real-life practice between sessions.

4

Skills for life

You finish the block with a toolkit you'll keep using long after the program ends.

What you'll learn

A curriculum, not a conversation.

Step 1 · Understand

See the pattern, not the fight

We start with a structured look at your relationship — including a questionnaire and a private one-to-one with each of you — so we understand the cycle you are caught in, not just this week's argument.

Step 2 · Reconnect

Rebuild friendship and closeness

Restore the fondness, curiosity and small daily moments of connection that conflict wears away over time.

Step 3 · Navigate conflict

Change how you argue

Softer start-ups, genuine repair, and learning which problems to solve and which to manage — so disagreements stop doing damage.

Step 4 · Build forward

Create a shared future

Reconnect around the values, rituals and goals you are building together, so the relationship has somewhere to grow.

Informed by the Gottman Method — one of the most researched approaches to couples therapy — and always tailored to your relationship.

Why learn in a group?

Because skills stick better together.

You realise you're not the only one

Groups are kept to just 6 to 10 people. That's small enough to feel safe, and enough to discover that others are working on exactly what you're working on. That quietly dissolves the shame that keeps so many people stuck.

You learn from more than one story

Hearing how a skill works for someone else often teaches you more than any worksheet could.

More support, more often

A weekly group costs significantly less than weekly individual sessions, making consistent skill-building genuinely accessible.

🤝 Already seeing a psychologist?Perfect. The group teaches the skills; your individual sessions are where you apply them to your own story. Many participants do both, and you're welcome to keep seeing a psychologist outside Unbound Minds too.

What you actually pay per session

Rebate eligibility depends on your referral. Our team will confirm your exact costs before you commit to anything.

Still on the fence?

Fair questions, honest answers.

Do we need a referral?

No — you can book directly. Because couples therapy is not Medicare-rebatable, you do not need a GP referral to start.

Is couples therapy covered by Medicare?

No. Relationship and couples therapy is not covered by Medicare, so these sessions are private. If one partner is also seeing us individually for a diagnosed mental health condition, that is separate and may be rebatable with a GP referral.

What if my partner is reluctant?

Very common — and it can still help. Coming along even once, just to see what it is like, asks nothing more than curiosity. We create a balanced space where both of you are heard, without taking sides.

Will you tell us whether to stay together?

No. Our job is to help you understand each other and make the decisions that are right for you — whatever those turn out to be.

Can we do sessions online?

Yes — in person at Gledswood Hills or Kingswood, or online across NSW, whatever suits you both.

Not sure yet? That's exactly what the first chat is for.

Register your interest and our team will call you. No scripts, no pressure. We'll tell you when the next group starts, what it costs, and honestly whether it's right for you.
